Rules / Requirements
- Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. No exceptions
- Once we receive and accept your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate, you may not give or sell your race number to anyone else, and you may not transfer your 2009 entry fee to future races.
- If you attempt to sell your race number, you may be banned from future Competitor Group events for three years.
- Concert tickets are also non-refundable
- You must be at least 18 years old to participate in the Marathon and 12 years old to participate in the 1/2 Marathon.
- You must be able to complete the Marathon within 7 hours
- You must be in good health and physically prepared to take on the challenge of a Marathon or 1/2 Marathon.
- You must show photo ID to receive your race number and timing chip.
- You must pick up your own race packet and race number at the Expo.
- Race numbers are required to participate.
- No coaches, bikes, in-line skates, skateboards, baby joggers or dogs will be allowed on the course.
Wheelchair Program and Protocol
Racing Wheelchair Division
- Start in front of the Elite start line 5 minutes prior to runners’ race.
People's Standard Wheelchairs
- Start in the appropriate corrals for your projected finish time / pace.
No Handcycle Division
- Due to safety issues on the course, and in accordance with International Paralympic Committee rules, NO handcycles (handbikes, handcrank devices or other mechanically gear driven devices) will be permitted in the race.
Racing Wheelchair Division Rules
- Racing wheelchairs shall be defined as a customized performance chair. IPC Athletics Rules will be enforced. For additional rules view: www.ipc-athletics.org.
- Further the race will abide by the rules and policies of the recognized governing bodies of the sports of wheelchair racing, which do not allow the use of mechanical gears found on handbikes. For additional information contact: Wheelchair Sports USA www.wsusa.org and the International Paralympic Committee www.ipc-athletics.org.
Everyday Wheelchairs
- Everyday wheelchairs shall be defined as a stock manual wheelchair.
- The wheelchair shall have at least four functional wheels.
- The overall length of the chair from outside of front casters/wheels to outside of rear wheel shall not exceed 100cm.
- The rear wheels shall not exceed 70 cm in diameter. The front caster/wheels shall not exceed 8 inches/ 17.6 cm in diameter.
- The rear seat height must be greater than 30 cm (13.6 inches). Persons of small stature may be exempt.
- Only one plain round hand rim is allowed for each rear wheel. This rule may be waived for persons requiring a single arm drive chair.
- No mechanical gears or levers shall be allowed. The chair must be manually propelled.
- All chairs are subject to a rules and safety inspection.
- Runners and walkers in all races will have the right of way. Wheelchair racers shall yield to runners or walkers.
- It will be the athlete’s responsibility to meet the above rules.

Race Packet Pick-Up
You must pick up your own race packet, bib number and timing chip at the Health & Fitness Expo on Friday, November 13th or Saturday, November 14th. You must show a valid ID to receive your race packet.
Changing Races/Corrals
- Switch from the ½ Marathon to the Marathon
Before September 25th: Upgrades from the ½ Marathon to the Marathon will be accepted via email and phone until September 25th. The early upgrade fee is $20.
After September 25th: If you would like to switch from the ½ Marathon to the Marathon, you will need to pay a $35 upgrade fee at the Expo. Please pick up your half marathon race number and proceed to the “Marathon Upgrade” table.
- Switch from the Marathon to the ½ Marathon
Before September 25th: If you would like to switch from the Marathon to the ½ Marathon, simply email your first name, last name, the mailing address that you registered with, and your new predicted finish time to rnrsa@eliteracing.com.
After September 25th: If you decide to switch from the Marathon to the ½ Marathon, simply show up to the ½ Marathon start line on race morning and your timing tag will reflect the change. You can visit the corral change table in the registration area of the Expo for information on the appropriate corral to start in.
Cancellations
Entry fees are NON-REFUNDABLE and entries are NON-TRANSFERABLE. Sorry, no exceptions. Once we receive and accept your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate. You may not give or sell your number to anyone else. You also may not transfer your application to the following year.
If you registered and are unable to participate in the race, we will be happy to mail your participant T-shirt to you. Please fill out and submit the Cancellation/T-shirt Request Form. Participant T-shirts will be mailed approximately 4-6 weeks after the event.
