Up for a challenge? Join us for the Texas Showdown, a statewide distance running championship at the inaugural Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon & ½ Marathon.
Eligible distance runners from Texas will compete for prize money in both the full and half marathon distances.
To qualify for the Texas Showdown prize purse, runners must have been a permanent full-time resident in the state of Texas as of November 1, 2007.
Featuring a prize purse of $11,500 for the best Texas athletes and a guaranteed bonus of $350 for reaching specific time standards, this is one competition that you won’t want to miss!

Bonus Qualifier Required Times:
Any male who completes the marathon course under 2:31 and any female under 2:56 will receive a bonus of $350, should they not win any prize money.
Any male who completes the 1/2 marathon course under 1:08:30, and any female under 1:17 will receive a bonus of $350, should they not qualify for prize money.
Eligibility Rules and Comp Entry Requirements:
- To qualify for the Texan Resident prize purse you must have been a resident in the state of Texas as of November 1 2007.
- We invite athletes who have run under 2:47 (male) and 3:15 (female) for the marathon & 1:15:30 (male) 1:26:30 (female) for the half to submit their resume for consideration of elite athlete status. All resumes must be received no later than September 1st.
- Any Texan male athlete who completes the marathon course under 2:31 and any Texan female under 2:56 and does not win any prize money will be paid a bonus of $350. In the half marathon any Texan male who finishes under 1:08:30 and any Texan female under 1:17 will also receive a $350 bonus should they fail to win prize money.
- Any Texan athlete who intends to race in the marathon and has bettered 2:43 (male) 3:07:20 (female) in the last 12 months will be offered a complimentary entry.
- Any Texan athlete who intends to the run the half marathon and bettered 1:13:30 (male) 1.24 (female) in the last 12 months will be offered a complimentary entry.
