Health & Fitness Expo

Health & Fitness Expo Packet Pick-up

Pick up your race number, Chronotrack timing tag, tech tee and goodie bag at the Health & Fitness Expo before the race. The two-day Expo will be held at the Alamodome and will be free and open to the public.*

Runners MUST present a photo ID to pick up their race number and timing tag. Each participant must pick up his/her own race number- family members and friends will NOT be permitted to pick up packets on another participant’s behalf. NO EXCEPTIONS. Packets will not be mailed. There will be no race-day pick packet up.

*Please note: Parking at the Alamodome is $10 and will apply for the Expo. This fee is issued by the Alamodome. There are alternate lots and parking meters available in downtown San Antonio. Please plan accordingly.

Start Line Village

At the Start Line Village (located near Lions Field at Broadway and Mullberry), you will find pre-race refreshments including bananas, bagels, water and Cytomax sports drink as well as medical support and Gear Check.

Race Morning Tip: It is highly suggested that you arrive early on race day so that you have plenty of time to fuel up and check any items at Gear Check.

Gear Check

Before you enter your assigned corral, drop-off your pre-race/post-race clothing and belongings at the Gear Check trucks located in the Start Line Village.

While you run, your gear will be transported from the start to finish line. Each participant will receive a large, durable goodie bag and label at the Health & Fitness Expo when you pick up your packet that will serve as your gear bag on race day. Gear Check trucks will be arranged alphabetically and by truck number in the Start Line Village. Attach your gear tag to your gear bag before you leave it with the Gear Check crew. After the race, reclaim your checked bag at the finish line Gear Pick-up station located outside of the finish line secure zone.

Please note: All gear bags must be claimed by 3 pm on race day. DO NOT leave valuables, cash or jewelry in your gear bag. The event is not responsible for any lost items.

ChronoTrack Timing System

State of the art ChronoTrack systems will be used to record participants’ times at the start, at certain splits along the courses and at the finish. The ChronoTrack system uses a disposable tag, called a D Tag, which allows you to walk away from the finish without the need to have your tag collected. Prior to the race, you must remove the tag from your race number and attach it to your shoe. Please follow the instructions provided in your registration packet.

Please note: All participants in this race must wear the ChronoTrack timing tag on your shoe in order to have their times recorded. ChampionChip timing equipment will NOT be used at this race; ChampionChip timing chips will NOT record your time.

Visit chronotrack.com for more information.

Start Line Corrals

The start line corral system allows for a smooth race start for participants of varying levels.

Based on the estimated finish time that you provided on your race entry form, you are assigned a race number and corresponding corral, with other participants of similar running pace.

When you pick up your race number at the Health & Fitness Expo, check your corral assignment. If you believe that you have been assigned to the wrong corral, bring your race number to the Corral Change table in the registration area at the Expo.

There will be NO corral changes on race morning.

Wave Start

The Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon and ½ Marathon courses will start at the same location and participate in a wave start. This will enable a comfortable starting position for runners and walkers of all paces. Participants are assigned to an appropriate corral based on the projected finishing time submitted on their entry form.

When the gun fires, the first corral will be released. The rest of the participants will be held at the start line. At pre-determined intervals (every 1:30 - 2:00 minutes) the next corral will be released. By using this staggered starting method, the pack will be spread out and allow every runner to settle into their racing rhythm from the first step right to the finish line. This will allow sufficient room along the course and at the finish line without affecting the chip time or the time participants have to complete the race.
