San Antonio, TX (May 14, 2008) — Elite Racing, Inc., organizer of the inaugural Rock 'n' Roll San Antonio Marathon & 1/2 Marathon, is currently seeking local and regional bands to play along the 13.1 and 26.2-mile race courses on Sunday, November 16, 2008.
“Upbeat, high-energy music is what we are looking for,” said Lucy Diaz, event manager of the San Antonio race. “The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon experience is different from other races because of the on-course entertainment element. We produce mini-concerts at every mile along the race course by placing high quality acts on professionally managed entertainment stages.”
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon provides a unique opportunity for local and regional bands to play to an enthusiastic audience of over 20,000 in a positive, healthy and upbeat environment. Bands chosen will perform live on one of 26 entertainment stages with complete sound systems positioned along each mile of the marathon route and at the finish line. Bands exhibiting outstanding showmanship will have an opportunity to be featured on local and national television.
Event organizers are looking for bands of every genre to entertain and encourage runners and walkers. Music styles from salsa to reggae, R&B to alternative and classic rock to country are welcome. However, space is limited and bands interested in rockin’ along the course are encouraged to apply now.
